Outline Planning Application Lodged By DBCG Group

Thursday, 24th May, 2007: An outline planning application has been lodged with Fife Council by the organisation planning to create a world class enabling garden and community centre in Cupar's Duffus Park.
The move has been described as a "massive step forward" by a leading member of the Douglas Bader Community Garden group, which is aiming to create a unique £5 million facility in the heart of the town.
The application follows on from two years of steady progress by the group, which has already raised over £100,000 towards the development costs of the new garden on a 1.3 hectare site.
Douglas Bader Community Garden Project Manager Andrew Gold, from Cupar said: "This is a massive step forward for us and a necessary move which we had to make as part of the preparation phase. It has taken a lot of hard work and determination by our group members to get to this stage.
"We have also been helped tremendously by Fife Council officials and Councillors, as well as representatives from our many co-opted partners including Elmwood College, Fife Constabulary, Kingdom Housing Ltd, and Cupar Community Council.
"Councillors, businesses, and members of the public will now be able to examine the proposals as part of the process and we are looking forward to hearing their comments."
Notice of planning application documents have already been sent out by the Douglas Bader Community Garden group to householders and businesses in the vicinity of the proposed development.
Individuals wishing to inspect the outline planning proposal can view the group's application by visiting the County Buildings in Cupar. Fife Council officials advise those interested to call in advance, to give staff the opportunity to ensure documents are made available for public inspection.
The application and plans can also be viewed via Fife Council's own website.
