Play in a Pub Raises Hundreds of
Pounds To Boost Garden Fund
A special thespian evening in a Cupar pub has raised hundreds of pounds for the campaign to redevelop the Douglas Bader Community garden in Cupar.
Brenda Hunter and Alan Tricker, well known for their work with the St Andrews Play Club at St Andrew's Byre Theatre, trod the boards in front of a packed audience at the Cupar Arms Hotel.
The special event was organised by publican Elizabeth McInroy, Vice-Chair of the Douglas Bader Community Garden group.
"I think it was the first time a Scottish pub has done this sort of thing since the no-smoking ban came into effect," said pub boss Elizabeth.
"It was such a successful evening that we fully intent to repeat the experience in the near future to raise some more money for the garden. It's such a great cause, and one which everyone in Cupar is backing, going by the turnout for the play."
The actors performed a version of .R. Gurney's romantic comedy "Love Letters", on a specially designed stage in the pub restaurant.
Susan Blake, secretary of the Douglas Bader Community Garden group said: "We are indebted to Brenda and Alan and all the people who made the evening such a great success."
