28th November 2006: Group secretary Susan Blake has been made Cupar's Citizen of the Year 2006 at an awards ceremony held in the town's County Buildings.

Susan received her award from Community Council Chairman Bryan Poole for her dedicated work on the Douglas Bader Community Garden project over the past two years. As a volunteer, she has helped to raise funds and promote the group to the point where we are the most talked about community organisation in North-East Fife.

A lifetime resident of Cupar, Susan told members of Cupar Community Council that the award had been: "A complete surprise." She added: "I never thought this could happen to me in a million years and was overwhelmed when I discovered I had been chosen."

Susan, who will turn on the Christmas lights in the town this weekend, is an administrator with a leading St Andrews Golf Club.
